The Manaia is a Maori spiritual guardian which protects the wearer from evil.
It usually has the head of a bird, the body of man and the tail of a fish, representing sky, earth and water.
The Manaia in this collection are hand made by Opotiki, Eastern Bay of Plenty carver, Bing Dain. Each measures approximately 6.5cm high (2.5 inches)
