  Kiwi video

Sorry, temporarily out of stock

KIWI, New Zealand’s national bird: Price: US$29.95 (includes shipping cost). Duration approx 55 minutes.

The Kiwi is unique to New Zealand and is one of the most unusual birds on earth. It’s flightless, nocturnal, has hair-like feathers, and burrows into the ground to lay an egg representing 25% of its bodyweight.

Many of New Zealand’s birds have been lost or are close to extinction but the Kiwi’s characteristics have helped it to survive — now its numbers are falling and the film explores the reasons why and offers hope for the future.

  Kea video

Sorry, temporarily out of stock

KEA, mountasin parrot: Price: US$29.95 (includes shipping cost). Duration approx 55 minutes.

The kea is a survivor. When settlers introduced sheep to the high country, it made its home amidst the majestic glaciers and windswept snowy valleys of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Some people call them the ‘clowns of the alps’ — others say they are hooligans, vandals and even killers, though they are superb parents and resourceful providers.

Come along with Wild South and experience a year in the Southern Alps as we capture, for the first time on film, the revealing and controversial survival techniques of this bold and enterprising mountain parrot, the kea.
